MetaBit Launches Exchange Simulator for Interface to TSE’s New Trading System

Prior to the launch of the Tokyo Stock Exchange’s (TSE) new arrowhead exchange trading system, MetaBit has launched a new Exchange Simulator (EXSiM), which it says emulates the behaviour of the order and execution interface (API) to the new trading system. The TSE next gen platform is due to be launched in January 2010 and the vendor is keen to work with the broker and vendor community as they get ready for the go live date.

China Construction Bank Opts for Fiserv’s KRM for Market Risk Measurement

China Construction Bank (Asia) Corporation (CCB) has implemented Fiserv’s market risk measurement and management solution, KRM, across its Asian operations. The solution will be used to provide the firm with analytical and reporting support for its market risk strategies, says Michael Leung, chief information officer of CCB.

The global upheaval of the capital markets over the past few years has resulted in a wholesale, industry-wide effort to improve the risk management function. When looked at from the perspective of the data supply chain that services the risk management role, a major shift towards a near-time, event driven operating model is making itself visible. Risk managers are increasingly looking to operate on a ‘just in time’ basis in order to provide the most up to date measurement and analysis possible to their firms and their customers.

Tradetech Europe Delivers on Delegates and Scuttlebutt

With unofficial attendance numbers at more than 1,300, Tradetech Europe confounded the sceptics this month and hit home with a successful event in wonderful Paris weather. Despite grumbles about the crumbling venue, the electronic trading market’s annual shindig lived up to its own hype.

Electronic Trading First Words: The Search for a Trading Technology Benchmark

Licking our wounds after the usual double-bookings (sorry), late nights (ouch), and bad backs (no, really) of a manic trade show like Tradetech, we’re encouraged by the levels of activity still evident in our market space. Although much of the gossip centred on the inevitable consolidation of European execution venues this year, it’s worth remembering that given the volume of new upstarts, consolidation would be inevitable even under the best of market conditions.

Nyfix Modifies Euro Millennium Match to Mid-Point

Nyfix this month amended its Euro Millennium MTF trading platform to support matching only at the mid-point of the reference market price for an interim period, in response to U.K. Financial Services Authority inquiries relating to its interpretation of a MiFID pre-trade transparency waiver. The modification had been expected, and was flagged by Nyfix in its 2008 earnings statement as a possible future development cost.

BISS Research Launches Advisory Service and Training for Corporate Actions Space

BISS Research has launched a new corporate actions advisory service aimed at providing financial services firms and vendors with information and recommendations about investing in the space. Gary Wright, CEO of the firm, says the advice will be based on its benchmarking endeavours and it will also be launching a series of training courses about the corporate actions market.

Deutsche Börse Opens Representative Office in Tokyo, Appoints Miyata to Head

Deutsche Börse has opened a new representative office in Tokyo, which the exchange operator says will serve as a local hub for its derivatives exchange, Eurex, and its Market Data & Analytics (MD&A) business segments. Nagayoshi Miyata, who joined Eurex in 2007, has been appointed as the chief representative of the new office.

IBM Extends Brocade Partnership to IP Networking

IBM is expanding an OEM agreement it has with Brocade for storage area networking that will see it re-brand and sell Brocade IP networking products, including Ethernet routers and switches. The move comes as longtime IBM networking partner Cisco begins to compete in the blade server and data centre infrastructure space, and as rival HP enhances its data centre offerings.

Quantifi Expands U.S. Presence with New York Office

Risk analytics provider Quantifi has opened an office in New York’s Midtown. The company says the new office, which complements its Summit, NJ, facility, will allow it to get closer to its Wall Street client base.
