CFTC Calls for Industry Feedback on Data Repositories and Standards for Swaps

As part of its endeavour to improve transparency within the swaps market and in a follow up to the passing of the Dodd-Frank Wall Street Reform and Consumer Protection Act, the US Commodity Futures Trading Commission (CFTC) is asking firms to provide feedback on 30 areas of change including the regulatory proposals related to swap data repositories’ registration standards. The new standards for the submission of reference data sets to the repositories will require firms to alter their data supply chains by adding in additional cross referencing and data quality checking steps.

Atrium Continues FX Expansion on Wave of North American, European Growth

Atrium Network’s addition of FXCM to its list of foreign exchange connections is part of the French connectivity provider’s ongoing expansion both in terms of asset class and geography. FXCM will use Atrium’s extranet to connect its North Bergen, New Jersey, data centre to Atrium points of presence (POPs) in the New York/New Jersey metro area.

CGS’ Purcell Explains Why the DTCC Tie up Could be Beneficial for Cabre and Elaborates on Recent Progress

Darren Purcell Cusip Global Services Since the announcement of the launch of their entity identifier joint venture back in February (see coverage here), Cusip Global Services and Avox have been steadily working on increasing the coverage of their Cusip Avox Business Reference Entity identifier (Cabre) codes. According to Darren Purcell, European director for CGS, the vendors currently have in the range 300,000 such identifiers at the moment. He is hopeful that the recent acquisition of Avox by the Depository Trust & Clearing Corporation (DTCC) will boost the success of the endeavour due to its US reach (see our coverage of the buy out here).

Cusip Global Services Plans Q4 Launch for Hedge Fund Identifiers, Focuses on Building up New Offerings

Following the announcement back in June last year that it would be teaming up with HedgeFund.net to develop entity identifiers for the hedge fund community (see coverage here), Cusip Global Services (CGS) has said that it is planning the launch of its Cusip for hedge funds service for the fourth quarter of this year. Darren Purcell, director of CGS in Europe, explains to A-Team Insight that the vendor is putting a lot of effort into building up coverage of the hedge fund market, as well as coverage for other new areas of interest including US equity options and government economic stimulus programmes.

DTCC Releases First Drafts of ISO 20022 Corporate Actions Lifecycle Messages, Kirby Urges Firms to Provide Input

Pat Kirby DTCC Following on from the release of its business case for the introduction of XBRL to the world of corporate actions last month (see coverage here), the Depository Trust & Clearing Corporation (DTCC) has finally released the first set of drafts for its new corporate actions messages, which are based on the ISO 20022 standard. The work is all part of the vendor’s corporate actions reengineering project (see our coverage here), which is currently in its second phase and will eventually result in the replacement of 60 legacy systems when it is completed in 2015.
