Codestreet (booth # 1522) has released an integrated capacity planning and latency benchmarking test solution for its RMDS platform. According to Howard Pein, CEO of Codestreet, the new solution allows financial firms to use latency as the criteria for evaluating their infrastructure performance under specific stress conditions.
The capacity planning and latency monitoring facilities are components of Codestreet’s Market Data Works (MDW) suite. The monitoring environment allows market data administrators to simulate market conditions at specific loads, benchmark observed latencies at these loads and monitor latencies all the way through to the desktop.
“Our customers wanted a simple and easy to use system for monitoring latency,” says Pein. “Those currently available are far too complex and not particularly user friendly so we decided to take a software approach to their requirements.”
Codestreet Market Data Metrics is able to stress test RMDS infrastructure by simulating a high update rate feed handler by replaying recorded market data at rates up to hundreds of thousands of updates per second. While applying these tests, operators can monitor latency across the infrastructure within the tool. Because Market Data Metrics monitors latency all the way through the APIs, the latency observed will reflect what user applications are likely to experience under similar loads.
The solution was a year in development and the feedback so far has been very positive, says Pein.
