More than 30 market data managers in two locations benefited from the deep experience of market leaders in information service management at A-Team Consulting’s Adventures in Market Data Optimization events in London and New York last month. Representatives from a broad array of financial institutions, including Merrill Lynch, Goldman Sachs, Citigroup, Wellington Management and UBS, heard six presenters from the leading data management tools and consulting services firms talk about how to gain control of the market data sourcing process and realize true gains in terms of return on investment and cost control. Sponsored by Harco Technology, the event featured presentations from Stuart Harvey (Harco), Ben Mendoza and David Toomey-Wilson (Market Data Services Ltd.), Robert Leitner (The Roberts Group), Liz Gurney (the Buttonwood Tree Group) and Don Madura (Madura Associates Inc.). Adventures was organized to provide a forum for debating issues currently facing market data managers. Among issues raised by the groups were management of index data, research and ratings, as well as where within an institution management of data resources should reside.
