SEC Campaigns for 20% Extra Funding for Staffing and IT in 2011

The Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) has continued its campaign this week to convince the US government to raise its budget to US$1.2 billion in 2011, which would represent an increase of around 20% on next year’s budget. The regulator is keen to revamp its IT systems, invest in a consolidated data repository and hire an additional 375 staff to deal with the fallout from the financial crisis.
