TransactTools Brings Valuable New Revenue Source for NYSE

The recently completed acquisition of enterprise messaging solutions provider TransactTools by NYSE Group brings into the acquiring company a business “interestingly adjacent” to its core activities of running the New York Stock Exchange and NYSE Arca, according to TransactTools CEO Sam Johnson. While the core business of an exchange is to provide liquidity, TransactTools’ business is “all about getting customers to liquidity”, he says. As exchanges start to “look a lot more like technology companies” going forward, in response to the realisation that they can never control all the liquidity, they will extract value from “offering the ability to take customers to liquidity, wherever it is”, Johnson contends. “Our business will be a source of new revenue for NYSE Group, alongside its traditional business.”
