Nyfix Unveils Euro Millennium European Dark Pool Platform »

Nyfix has become the latest new entrant in the European dark pool sector with last month’s launch of Euro Millennium, a neutral venue for pan-European listed equities. US institutional broker Weeden & Co has teamed with New York’s Pragma Financial Systems to launch OnePipe, a single crossing network that taps up to 25 dark liquidity pools. OnePipe was developed through Pragma @ Weeden, the two firms’ joint algorithmic trading service. It offers institutional investors access to more than 25 dark pools, crossing networks and streaming liquidity venues from a single, integrated source that can be accessed from the trader’s desktop.

EdgeTrade’s Executions in the Dark Continue to Beat Industry Average »

EdgeTrade, the independent US agency-only broker, says a daily average of 27.4 per cent of clients’ executions were completed in dark pools during heavy market volatility between August and October through its FAN smart order execution algorithm – almost three times the US industry average. The snapshot, which was taken in the recent months of choppy equity trading, compares with a Tabb Group estimate of 9.4 per cent of all US equity shares executed in the dark.

Dark Pools Here and Here to Stay, Says Tabb »

While there are risks associated with the proliferation of hidden liquidity, the economic benefits for institutional traders are real. So says a new Tabb Group research note, Groping in the Dark: Navigating Crossing Networks and Other Dark Pools of Liquidity. When dark pools are successfully navigated, they can minimise information leakage, manage market impact and execute block trades at beneficial prices. By the end of 2007, Tabb says, dark pools will capture 512 million share executions per day. The volume of non-displayed liquidity execution will triple to 1.5 billion a day in 2010, more than 15 per cent of total equity market share.

Instinet’s Nighthawk Algorithm Adds Fidelity Dark Pool »

Instinet has added Fidelity Capital Markets Services’ CrossStream dark liquidity pool to its Nighthawk liquidity aggregation algorithm. Fidelity CrossStream joins Credit Suisse’s CrossFinder, Pipeline, Liquidnet H20 and NYFIX Millennium as the dark pools available through Nighthawk.
