A-Team Insight Exchange is a new event series for 2010, which will combine A-Team’s expertise in financial markets IT with thought leadership from world-class technology innovators and practical experience from financial market practitioners.

The London Stock Exchange’s decision to team up with MillenniumIT may have come as a surprise to market outsiders, but the company’s track record in the exchange platform space made it a prime contender for consideration as the LSE looked to replace its TradElect platform.
Nasdaq OMX has underlined its commitment to the INet core matching system platform with the release of a series of enhancements, which will translate into upgrades for its Genium commercial exchange technology offering.
Chi-X Global Technologies’ selection of IBM’s WebSphere MQ Low Latency Messaging as the messaging layer for its core exchange trading platform will bolster the throughput and latency performance of the company’s core exchange matching offering. The non-exclusive arrangement will see Chi-Tech offer IBM as an option alongside its own original proprietary messaging software as it engages with marketplace clients for its matching engine; other middleware messaging offerings will be considered based on client demand.
The technology arms race among marketplace operators took a leap forward with this month’s news that the London Stock Exchange has agreed to acquire Sri Lankan trading platform provider MillenniumIT – first revealed as a solution to the ‘TradElect Problem’ in Electronic Trading in early August – for £18 million. The exchange believes it will have a replacement platform in place before the end of 2010.

Not to be rushed by the, erm, rush to fast markets currently underway in Europe, Deutsche Boerse group – operator of perhaps the oldest of the big three incumbent European stock exchange trading platforms – has set a plan to incorporate IBM’s WebSphere messaging platform into its future trading platforms, the first of which is due to come onstream in late 2010.
