The Nasdaq OMX Group has named Charlotte Crosswell as president of its Nasdaq OMX Pan European Market, a high-volume trading platform that will link multiple trading pools across Europe (MiFID Monitor, March 2008). Crosswell joins Nasdaq OMX Pan European Market from Pension Corporation, a London-based pension management firm, where she has been a partner and head of business development. In her new role Crosswell will be based in London and be responsible for the operations and strategic development of the Pan European Market.

Instinet has appointed Richard Balarkas, who joined its subsidiary Instinet Europe Limited (IEL) in December 2007 (MiFID Monitor, December 2007), as president and CEO. Balarkas joins COO Clive Triance – who joined Instinet in October 2007 from Citigroup – and CFO Stephen Corker – who joined Instinet in January from Tullett Prebon – to form the new IEL senior management team.

StreamBase Systems, a provider of complex event processing (CEP) software, has appointed former Apama general manager Mark Palmer as president and chief operating officer. Prior to joining StreamBase, Palmer worked for Progress Software, where he led that company’s acquisition of CEP software vendor Apama and then led the Apama business unit as general manager.

Sibbern will return to the exchange after 18 months as president at E*Trade Bank A/S where he was responsible for operations in Denmark and Norway.

Bats Trading has named Mark Hemsley chief executive of Bats Trading (Europe) and appointed Paul O’Donnell as chief operating officer of the newly formed entity (Electronic Trading, 31 March 2008), which is based in London.

SWX Europe, the London-based securities exchange owned by SWX Swiss Exchange, has appointed Mark Ryland, formerly global head of equities IT at HSBC, as chief operating officer.

At Saxon, Morris has been responsible for business development, expanding its trading offices in Europe, Asia and North America, increasing its breadth of product coverage and promoting algorithmic and fund opportunities as applied to futures, cash and commodity trading.

CME Group has appointed Kendal Vroman as managing director and chief corporate development officer, reporting to CME Group president Phupinder Gill.

Atrium Network, provider of connectivity solutions for the financial community, says Ian Keal has joined the firm as technical project manager from his position as senior technical solutions consultant at BT Radianz. Keal’s responsibilities at Atrium Network will be to provide pre-sales support to the sales force in Europe and North America. He will be responsible for delivering network solutions for extranet and corporate technology (intranet and internet) connectivity requirements, working closely with both Atrium Network’s clients and suppliers.

Progress Software has appointed Scott Grayson managing director, global sales for Apama Capital Markets products. Previously, Grayson was managing director and head of North American sales for Algorithmics.

Trayport, recently acquired by GFI Group (Electronic Trading, February 2008), has named Jubin Pejman vice president, Americas. Pejman has served in a number of roles including at JPMorgan’s Lab Morgan. Trayport has also named James Davies head of its trader systems business unit.

AXES, agency broker and provider of electronic trading access, has appointed William Reekstin global business development executive. So far, Reekstin has been focusing on managing the integration of new brokerage services on AXES’ Global Execution Management System (GEMS) (Electronic Trading, May 2007).

Bids Trading has named Marybeth Shay senior managing director, sales and marketing. Previously, Shay was a senior vice president at the Boston Equities Exchange.
