Andrew’s Blog – Angela Merkel’s Trading Platform Decision

If you think Angela Merkel had a tough time convincing the German public to bail out Greece, think what she’s facing as she prepares to tell them that their beloved Xetra trading platform is relocating to a former Ford car park in Basildon, a desolate corner of Southeast Essex. For that is what almost certainly will happen if NYSE Euronext’s stated plan to acquire Deutsche Boerse goes ahead.

Nasdaq’s FTEN Buy to Target Brokers’ Looming US Market Access Needs

Nasdaq OMX’s December move to acquire FTEN, a provider of real-time risk management systems, will give the market operator the ammunition to address its broker/dealer community’s response to the SEC’s requirement for pre-trade risk controls across markets. The deal also adds FTEN’s high-speed risk and data management to Nasdaq’s Transaction Services group, allowing it to leverage its relationships with some 70 market venues globally.

NYSE Euronext Plans Q1 Options Trading Move to Mahwah, Doubling of Capacity

NYSE Euronext plans to move its options markets - NYSE Arca and NYSE Amex - to its Mahwah, NJ “Liquidity Centre” by the end of the first quarter, as it works to double their capacity to one million orders and 8.4 million quotes per second, with sub millisecond average order acknowledgements.
