Ahead of a formal launch in early June, UBS is engaged in a "soft rollout" of FX Trader Plus, an enhanced trading portal for foreign exchange and other markets. Built entirely in-house using Java and Javascript technologies and featuring a browser-based interface, the development puts UBS "back in the game," says Simon Wilson-Taylor, managing director and global head of FICC eCommerce at UBS.

After weeks of tantalizing drip-drip-dripping of developer details in the blogosphere, Morgan Stanley finally went live this week with its Matrix single-dealer portal for the interest-rate marketplace. Something of a latecomer in the race to portal-based value-added offerings in other asset classes, Morgan Stanley appears to be seeking to set the benchmark in the fixed-income derivatives and foreign exchange markets as practitioners seek to apply the technology services lessons learned elsewhere to the burgeoning OTC sector.
