Shanker RamamurthyFilling a longstanding void at the top of its Sales & Trading business unit, Thomson Reuters has named former IBM general manager for banking and financial markets Shanker Ramamurthy as president, Sales & Trading, effective June 20. The top slot at Thomson Reuters’ largest operating unit, with revenues of $3.5 billion and 2,700 staff, had been open since the departure of Mark Redwood almost a year ago (see more here).

NovaSparks Names Baetz to Run North American Ops, US Sales

In its second strategic hire of 2011, NovaSparks has named Olivier Baetz vice president of sales and operations for North America. Baetz’s appointment follows that of Matthew Gadd, who joined in February as vice president of operations for Europe, the Middle East and Africa.

Activ Financial In Search to Replace Departing EMEA Head Hann

Activ Financial says it’s exploring every avenue to recruit a replacement for departing European managing director David Hann. The high-performance market data delivery specialist confirms that Hann has resigned to take a position with an undisclosed broker/dealer based in Dubai, and will be relocating there.

Stop Press: David Hann Exits Activ Financial

David Hann is heading out of Activ Financial, where he has been managing director for the EMEA region since April 2009, when the company announced its expansion into Europe. Hann’s destination is unknown and the company declines to comment on his departure. Hann joined Activ from Interactive Data, where he was general manager of real-time services for that company’s EMEA region. He also spent time at Telerate, Gains and Madge Networks.

Woodward joined the firm back in February 2006 (see our news brief on the subject at the time here) and during his five years at Intel, has focused on leading its retail and investment banking strategy.
