Equiduct VBBO to Go Live in April »

Borse Berlin says its Equiduct VBBO (virtual best bid & offer) will be available as a real-time data feed from April 4. With no vendors yet distributing the feed, the VBBO will initially be available only on the Equiduct web site and as a FIX-based direct feed. Borse Berlin says it’s still on track “to open as an execution venue with our Equiduct Trading market model covering PartnerEx and HybridBook in early Q3”.

Börse Berlin Selects Knowledge Technology Solutions To Develop Equiduct Market Data Portal »

Börse Berlin has recruited London-based Knowledge Technology Solutions (KTS) to develop and host a web portal that will provide access to prices from the MiFID-compliant pan-European trading platform Equiduct. Börse Berlin says the KTS system will provide access to the Equiduct VBBO – virtual best bid/offer – as soon as the trading platform launches. The KTS portal will be accessible via the Equiduct Trading web site from April 2008. Pre and post-trade data from Equiduct’s Hybrid and PartnerEx market segments will be available online in mid-2008.

Fixnetix, provider of ultra low latency market data, has signed an agreement with Chi-X Europe to deliver market data and trading connectivity. Fixnetix has connected to the Chi-X matching engine with a roundtrip latency as low as 400 microseconds, it says. Fixnetix can deliver data in multiple formats with sub-millisecond data transformation if required, and deliver these services on the wire for ease of integration. Whether co-located using Fixnetix’s Source hosting partners or connecting via the company’s Ethernet and Fibre networks, Fixnetix reckons it ensures financial institutions can directly access both Chi-X and any competing European exchange gateway utilising Fixnetix ultra low latency point to point network connectivity.

Equinix, provider of network-neutral data centres and internet exchange services, has extended its Financial eXchange community in Europe with the addition of Chi-X Europe. Chi-X Europe will take advantage of Equinix’s premium data centre services and Financial eXchange approach to ensure the optimum performance and ultra low latency response times for its solution, according to Equinix. Chi-X Europe will join more than 40 other European customers that have already relocated their systems within Equinix’s network of Financial eXchange hubs to take advantage of the company’s proximity capabilities, the vendor claims.

BT, OMX Sign Market Data Distribution Deal »

OMX and BT have entered into an agreement under which market data from OMX Nordic Exchange will be distributed through BT’s financial services network. The new communication solution will generate access to the complete information offerings from OMX market data, which contains more than 800 companies. BT will enable access to the Nordic Exchange’s market data to a community of more than 10,500 sites worldwide, which will help eliminate the need for thousands of point-to-point connections to existing and new firms interested in obtaining OMX market data.

As Firms Quibble About Liquid Share Designations, CESR Invites Consultation on MiFID Databases »

The Committee of European Securities Regulators (CESR) has launched a consultation on how best to improve the functionality of its MiFID databases, and invites comments from interested parties on its web site by January 21. The comments will be considered and fed into an upgrade of the databases, with the new versions to be delivered in March 2008.
