The London Stock Exchange (LSE) has released plans to upgrade its TradElect platform, which it introduced just over a year ago, by increasing its messaging capacity from 5,000 to 20,000 continuous messages by October.

SWX Swiss Exchange and virt-x, its London-based electronic securities exchange, have unveiled details of a major IT programme designed to enable dramatic improvements in speed and capacity as a result of deployment of a new high performance trading platform. With the new system suited ideally to DMA and high-frequency algorithmic traders, further tariffs cuts could follow in quick succession as SWX and virt-x square up to take on established exchanges and upstart multilateral trading facilities in the post-MiFID environment.
