Virginie’s Blog – Fancy a Data Related Job at a Regulator…?

Part of the unlucky few facing job and spending cuts in the data management sector? Employee at a data management solution vendor or ratings agency that has fallen on hard times? Why not trade it all in for a (potentially) more secure job and a guaranteed pension by applying for a data focused role at the Committee of European Securities Regulators…?

Andrew’s Blog - High Performance and Transparency in Europe’s Exchange Sector

The autumn season of 2010 holds the promise of extreme exchange action in the European arena as all of the major incumbent exchanges proceed with major investments in their matching engine, data centre and connectivity infrastructures. Clearly, this has all come in response to the arrival of a glut of multilateral trading facilities (MTFs) since the launch of the most successful of them – Chi-X Europe – back in mid-2007.

Virginie’s Blog – Is the Leopard Changing its Spots?

Last month saw the approval of the package of proposals that make up the next five year strategic plan for industry network operator Swift, but what has the Brussels-based board approved in Swift 2015 and what does it mean for the industry at large?

Virginie’s Blog – Getting Sidetracked on the Topic of MiFID

This week’s MiFID Forum debate was a case in point of how easy it is to go off track when discussing the current barrage of consultation papers released related to the MiFID review. Virginie’s Blog – The Ripple Effect

The news last week that entity and counterparty data specialist provider Avox had been snapped up by a willing party in the form of the Depository Trust & Clearing Corporation (DTCC) comes as no surprise on either front. But what does the sale mean for the other main entity data focused vendor on the scene, CounterpartyLink? Moreover, if DTCC is going down the data utility route with entity data (among other things), what of Swift’s plan to adapt the Bank Identifier Code (BIC) into a legal entity identifier?

Andrew’s Blog - Thomson Reuters’ Redwood Steps Down; What’s Next?

The resignation this week of Mark Redwood, head of Thomson Reuters Markets’ Sales & Trading unit, confirms Step 2 of the three-step CEO succession scenario we outlined back in March. But it appears that despite two of our three predictions coming to pass, Thomson Reuters will look outside the firm when it moves to name a successor to Markets head Devin Wenig when he assumes a role within Thomson Reuters corporate.

Virginie’s Blog – The Week That Was…

This week’s financial conference on the US reform bill finally saw the Office of Financial Research come under the spotlight with Republican senator for Texas Jeb Hensarling’s motion to strike the proposals from the regulation (see our initial coverage of the discussions here). The details of the discussions are now publically available and it’s interesting to see the various angles of attack and defence that have sprung up within the political sphere.
