Swift’s corporate actions message testing service, launched in April this year, has gained significant backing from the custodian community, says Max Mansur, senior product and markets manager at Swift. The Simulation Test and Qualification Service (STaQS) allows Swift’s customers to see how their usage of corporate action messages compares to market practice guidelines established by global and local business standards groups. According to Mansur, a number of custodians have indicated that they will be cascading the service down to their sub-custody networks.

The US subsidiary of Dutch asset manager APG Algemene Pensioen Groep NV, APG Investments US Inc, has signed up for US domestic fixed income corporate actions information from Fidelity ActionsXchange, via its ActionService product. APG Investments US Inc is the wholly owned subsidiary of APG Algemene Pensioen Groep NV, which provides asset management services to Dutch-based Stichting Pensioenfonds ABP. ActionService, which competes in the corporate actions processing market with the DTCC’s Global Corporate Actions Validation Service, takes in multiple corporate action data sources and detects and reconciles routine data discrepancies. This client win, follows a successful year for the vendor in 2007, during which it increased its number of clients by 32%.

Exchange Data International (EDI), provider of reference and corporate actions data, has integrated Unit Trust dividend information into its UK Dividend feed. Available as an additional set of the UK Dividend feed or on its own, the Unit Trust Dividend feed gives access to information like Group 1 and Group 2 distributions and equalisation rates required for the calculation of dividend income. In addition to this data, the new feed includes payment frequency details, pay date, ex and record dates, unit type and more important tax treatment data. EDI is currently developing its UK corporate actions service to extend its coverage to corporate actions of Unit Trusts and OEICs (ReferenceDataReview.com, February 2008).

Reuters has added an enhancement to Reuters DataScope Select which will see its corporate actions data updated hourly, rather than once a day. Users will be able to monitor portfolios more actively by choosing how often they receive updates and paying according to the quantity of data they use, Reuters says.
