The EDM Council marked its third anniversary during the Sifma Technology Management Conference in New York this month. Since its formation in 2005, the not-for-profit organisation has grown in size from a dozen founding members to more than 50 financial institutions, data vendors, software companies and integration providers. “Today, most firms are actively engaged in managing data as a shared service and understand data quality as the glue that holds business processes together. Data management is rapidly being viewed as an essential horizontal process – alongside IT, operations, and human resources as part of the core infrastructure of financial institutions,” said Michael Atkin, managing director of the EDM Council.

The Valordata Feed delivers information from Telekurs’ database of structured, encoded securities information. Standard & Poor’s (S&P) has made its Cusip Master File database available through GoldenSource. Under the arrangement users can access Cusip and other S&P data through GoldenSource in a format that will let them manage risk exposure more effectively by identifying issues and issuers from a variety of sources.
