Data quality specialist Datanomic has secured a further $3.5 million investment on the back of a year of growth and momentum, it says. The investment, provided by 3i, DN Capital and Silicon Valley Bank, will fund Datanomic’s geographical expansion, strategic partnership activities, and help develop market penetration within its two core lines of business – SPS (Sanctions PEP Screening) and DQI (Data Quality Integration). The vendor says demand for its data quality platform, dn:Director 6.2 (Reference Data Review, February 2008), helped it grow its revenues by more than 300 per cent during the past 12 months and secure more than 50 new customers in the financial services, as well as telecoms and retail, markets.

Following its acquisition by the Dubai International Financial Centre (DIFC) – owner of the Dubai Stock Exchange – last year (Reference Data Review, November 2007) SmartStream Technologies has expanded its global operations with a new office in Dubai based at the Dubai International Financial Centre, from which it plans to serve the large and diverse financial community in the Middle East. DIFC’s acquisition of transaction lifecycle management (TLM) systems provider SmartStream is part of its strategy to develop a set of hosted information and trade processing services. Via its Dubai office, SmartStream will be offering its range of TLM solutions, already used by more than 75 of the world’s top 100 banks, direct to the Middle Eastern market, according to the vendor.

Citadel Associates, provider of enterprise data management (EDM) systems for the buy side, has revealed its imminent name change to Cadis Software, assuming the name of its flagship product Cadis EDM Suite. The question of what the merger of Bank of New York and Mellon would mean for the two data management vendors owned by the banks, Netik and Eagle Investment Systems respectively, has been answered, as Netik reveals its new primary investor as Symphony Technology Group. The two-part deal orchestrated by Netik (with Marlin & Associates as advisor) also answers another question: whether Capco, as a consultancy firm, would stick in the managed reference data services business. The answer is no, as Netik has also acquired Capco Reference Data Services (CRDS) with a view to fulfilling its vision of transforming from a pure software provider to a player in the software and service business.

Data warehouse provider Netik has completed a buyout of its business from The Bank of New York Mellon Corporation and simultaneously acquired Capco Reference Data Services (CRDS) from Capco. Netik is now pursuing a vision of transforming from a purely software business into a software and service business, bringing together the CRDS capability to scrub multiple data sources to create a “single version of the truth” with the Netik data warehouse technology for reporting and data management. The data warehouse fulfils the role of on-site “container” and handles downstream distribution of the cleansed data. The vendor says it is already working with five clients interested in this expanded service-based proposition.
