Vista Equity Partner’s £1.3 billion offer for Misys might end the financial software company’s run of suitors, offers and failed acquisitions. It might also settle shareholder unease with a payout of £3.50 per share – a 6% premium on Misys’ share price on Friday, March 16. What is less likely is a great outcome for Misys users, as Vista proposes combining Misys and Turaz, the former Thomson Reuters Trade and Risk Management business Vista acquired in January.


















Hong Kong-based hedge fund Areion Asset Management has replaced a legacy portfolio management system and a spreadsheet risk management solution with hosted portfolio and risk management from Imagine Software. The aim is to eliminate manual processing and gain real-time views of risk and profit and loss.
Linedata has taken a short cut into the risk market through a global partnership with Paris based Riskdata, a provider of risk solutions for asset managers and institutional investors.
Ion Trading is back on the acquisition trail after its May 2011 purchase of Wall Street Systems, this time with an approach to Patsystems, a provider of electronic trading and exchange systems, as well as risk management tools and market connectivity solutions. The cash offer runs till December 26, though regulatory hurdles may present themselves, particularly as Ion owns 26.32% of FFastFill, a UK-based derivatives ISV.
Start-up hedge fund Benros Capital has contracted Imagine Software to provide a cloud-based portfolio and risk management service.
